STUDENTS ENCOURAGE INTENSIFIED FOOD PRODUCTION

While most students were already on vacation, 4 students from II-Mendel still went to work for a significant cause- to encourage students and other members of the community to do their part in increasing food production.

This program which aims to improve the knowledge and awareness of the community on food production, have been proposed by Christian I. Dy, Jesvic G. Naag, Joco Franz O. Amano, Arvin Roy O. Murillo and Nicele NIca P. Escalante. Their first worksite is located in Barangay Cabangan, Camalig, Albay. There, in a limited space of some 65 square meters, they planted eggplants among other crops, and practiced the use of eco-friendly agricultural techniques. such as the use of compost among others. These methods are called Bio-Intensive Gardening.

And yet after this, they engage themselves into developing another worksite, this time it is located in Banao, Guinobatan, Albay.

They have started a more extensive land preparation method. They have first cut all the weeds, removed the roots and softened the lot. The 100 sq. meter lot is to be maximized by planting a variety of crops.

The program is still very much in circulation and is increasing its potential.

The amount to be generated by this program will be diverted to finance other environment-related activities and programs of the MORMS Chapter of the POWER USERS of Information and Communication Technology.

OUR PROGRAM WELCOMES ALL POSSIBLE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM FELLOW STUDENTS. JUST CONTACT
